Full Name: Tracie Nicole Thoms
Born: August 19, 1975
Birthplace: Baltimore, MD
Tracie Thoms was born and rasied in Baltimore, Maryland. She realized she wanted to act when she was nine years old watching Junior Star Search. She proceeded to gradutae from the Baltimore School for the Arts in
1993 as well as getting a BFA from Howard University in Fine Arts. Tracie then attended in a program in England before being invited to join Juliard. After she graduated she began to work on stage, her Off-Broadway
credits include 'A Raisin in the Sun' with Baltimore Center Stage, 'Up Against the Wind' with the New York Theater Workshop, 'The Oepipus Plays' in Shakespear Theater, 'Joe Turner's Come and Gone' with Missouri
Rep, 'The Antigone Project with the Women's Project and The Exonerated with the Off-Broadway Center Stage. Her Broadway debut was in Regina Taylor's 'Drowning Crow' alongside Alfre Woodard.
She broke into Television in UPN's 'As If' which was cancelled after three episodes, where she played Sasha, the show was based on the hit British series. She is very well known for her role as Mahandra McGinty in the short-lived
series 'Wonderfalls' which aired on FOX for a season. Tracie later joined the cast of the hit CBS series 'Cold Case' as former narcotics detective Kat Miller.
Tracie has been featured in such films as Comedy Central's 'Porn 'n Chicken', 'The Warrior Class', 'Brother to Brother' and the indie film 'Everyone's Depressed', but it she is best know for her role as Joanne Jefferson in the film adaptaion of the Broadway play 'Rent'.
She can also be seen in the film adaptaion of Lauren Weisberger's best-seller, 'The Devil Wears Prada' alongside Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep. Her upcoming films include the already filmed City Lights Production
'Descent' with 'Rent' co-stars Rosario Dawson and Wilson Jermaine Heredia and the latest Quinten Tarantino film 'Grind House' in the segement 'Death Proof' to begin filming in July 2006 also starring with Rosario
Dawson. And lastly a comdey, 'Jimmie'. Tracie is the title character and stars with Brian McKnight and Vanessa Williams set to be released sometime this year. | |
